The joy of sewing....
This is what I've been working on the weekend.I've started a red and white quilt, just gotta love that combination! and with this quilt are red work stitcheries by Bronwyn Hayes.I'm making her quilt called cotton country and this is the first stitchery block I've stitched so far.I'm loving the simplicity of her work and just using one colour to sew with.
I've also been putting the borders on Gail Pan's BOM.I still have the final block to finish but I hope to have that done before next weekend so I can start putting it together.I'm thinking of maybe using a 2" sash between each block in a gold toned fabric....I don't want to use another dark colour as I want the finished quilt to be light and airy looking that's why I displayed the blocks on a light coloured material.I'd like to use a white toned/gold background as all my block backgrounds are a crisp white. What do you think I should do?

Sewing Machine Mat...
This is what I've been working on for the last few days.I used a combination of two charm packs. One I won on Ryan's giveaway a little while ago called Folklorique and another charm pack my sister gave to me ages ago called Poetry Collection.I wanted the mat to be plain as it was going to be sitting under my machine and I hate to waste applique if it can't be seen so I added a bit of bling by edging the mat with prairie points.Have I told you how much I LOVE prairie points.I think they just add that little something to the finished design.Anyway what do you think???
I'm also working on a sewing machine cover with the same charm pack combination.Should have it finished soon.I'm still working on the applique at the moment.

I've been published!!
Wooo Hooo When Sam from my craft forum said we'd both had our blocks published in this months issue of Homespun I couldn't wait to get my hot little hands on it(Sam's photo is the one on the top of page 31).I just had to wait two extra days for mine to come to me in the post! But boy was it worth it.I've loved making up these blocks for the "Breast Of Friends" BOM Homespun has been running.I'm eager to finish the last couple of blocks and start putting it together but I must admit I'm not looking forward to cutting up 198 x 2 1/2" squares for some of the borders!Oh well I better get off here and start cutting them up so I have them ready when I finish all the blocks.
