A few things....

I've joined in for  a few things for 2013 and one of them is "Birthday Love" Sometimes I'm madly rushing to finish of things for birthdays and occassionally have to resort to "Gasp" buying their gift instead :( So I've decided to join Wendy and start making at least one Birthday gift a month, hopefully this will mean I'm not pulling my hair out closer to birthday dates and not running around trying to look for the perfect gift to buy because I've run out of time to make it LOL......anyway if you'd like to join in the fun and be more organised with your Birthday list for 2013 just click on the picture on the right of my side bar or click on this link to take you to Wendy's blog and join up for some fun and a less stressful 2013 :)
Just before Christmas I won these gorgeous books but haven't had time with all the last minute things to do before Christmas to do a post on them.I'd like to thank Sinta
for being so generous and re-gifting these beautiful books,I've been drooling over them over my Christmas break and have already added a couple to my to-do list for never know someone may just end up with one as a Birthday/Christmas gift!!
Remember this gorgeous red and white ripple crocheted blanket I've been working on over the past year well I've finished it but I wont be showing you a photo of it all done as when I washed it the red ran and now I have a red and pink tinged blanket......I'm sooooo cross this has happened!! all my work ruined by the red running it's kinda put me off making another red and white one but we'll see whether the urge is stronger than the dissapointment :(
If anyone had any ideas on how to get it back to it's original glory I'd love to hear it :)

A couple of finishes....

I was finally able to start working on this BOM,I've been waiting till I'd finished my uni studies and this BOM was one of the things I kept myself going with a promise to myself that I couldn't start working on it till then.....I'm loving the soft grey/blue with the red.
I also had a strip cutting session for the other blocks so I can put each of the sashings on as I finish each block,I must say my back is paying for it though lol.....
I also finished of this wall hanging for a friend at work,I love the monkey, soooo cheeky looking :)
Anyway this will be my last post before Christmas day,I've finally made the trifle and doused it generously with grog MMmmmm it smells soooo good hic hic......I'll catch you all later and hope you all have a fun and safe Christmas and a happy 2013 if I don't see/hear from you before then :) Barb.

I have been spoilt rotten!

These are just a few of the gorgeous gifts I received from my swap partner in the Santa sack swap.....can you see a colour scheme emerging here? Cheryl knew I loved red and white together and didn't dissapoint my craving for these colours lol.....The pin cushion is now sitting beside my sewing machine and the felt Christmas decoration is hanging on my tree and the beautiful heart stitchery is hanging from one of my cabinets in the loungeroom.
MmMmmm sorry Cheryl but I couldn't resist peeking inside this pretty purse to see what the lump was I could feel inside it. Cheryl must have known I'm a note pad kind of girl and this one will be put to good use with all my to-do lists for next year, just gorgeous!
But wait there's more......Cheryl also knew from our many emails that I loved to read and look at that beautiful book mark she gifted me with,I'm being very spoilt by Cheryl in this swap :)
Cheryl also sent along two more Christmas decorations which are also now hanging on my tree,my tree is looking very full and lovely with all these decorations! Can you see the pretty Christmas buttons? Haven't seen ones like these before and can't wait to find that perfect project to showcase them of. Cheryl also sent me some red and white gift tags.....may just need to use thee in my sewing rooom, they'd look lovely as tags for my woven baskets which hold some of my many my projects.
Now I take my hat of to Cheryl for this gorgeous journal as that very pretty bird is done in needleturn something I've only every attempted twice and failed miserably not to mention I have no patience with this method of applique give me blanket stitch anytime lol.....Thanks Cheryl :)
Cheryl also supplied me with chocolates to keep my stamina up over the Christmas break....Mmmm my favourite peppermint chocolate, not much left of it now :)
Cheryl alos sent me some gorgeous fabrics guessed it red and white LOL,these have been washed, ironed and placed in with my other red and white fabrics ready to be used in a couple of projects I'm working on hope to show you some progress photo's in the new year.
Last but not the least by any means is this beautiful stitchery wall hanging with it equally beautiful hanger, this is now hanging in my sewing room so I can see it every time I go there.....Cheryl you have spoilt me rotten with this swap and I'm happy you also liked what I sent to you :)
It's been a busy few weeks for me and I've been a bit slack ( meaning way too tired ) to answer emails/comments left here and posting things on my blog but I'd like to take this time to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and a safe and happy new year and I hope you'll come back and visit me in the new year :) Barb.

Finally Finished!

Well here it is framed, after searching everywhere for my two.....yes two staple guns and not finding either one I cleaned the top of one of my tables in my sewing room and finally found them hidden in plain sight lol.....I love how this framed stitchery has turned out now to try and find the Christmas wreath one and make a start on it for next Christmas :)

FNWF.....what I got up to

I finished this wall hanging last night, may just need to make another one I think :)
I also finished of this Rosalie Quinlan stitchery and was going to frame it but the frame is too big even though it's the size the pattern reccomends so I'll be trimming this down and adding a border then hopefully it will fit on the frame better,I can't wait to see this one up on the wall!

Thanks Cheryl & Nearly finished....what I'll be working on toniight

I want to say a big thank you to Cheryl for my little extras parcel that arrived for me this's now waiting patiently under the tree for me to open :)
I also wanted to show you this lovely minature gingerbread house one of the parents gave me this week, she did these with her children and all the workers at my centre were given the thought and effort that went into this gift and the fact that the children were involved in the process :)
I found this completed stitchery in amongst the patterns I've been sorting through in my sewing room, don't know how long it's been there but thought I'd try and finish it tonight as a 12" mini wall hanging :)

MillRosie get together!

What started out as five members last September sudeenly swelled to sixteen by our November meet up!
Here are a few photo's I've pinched from Melody's blog as I didn't get my camera out quick enough to get many shots......Lots of fun, chatting, laughing and stitching happened on Saturday!
We also had a lucky dip and eleven girls particpated with this months designer being a small item made from an Anni Downs pattern. This is what I made for the dip, I'm planning on making myself one as well but in as a redwork stitchery.
These are the gorgeous handmade items I got in the lucky dip, made by the very talented Marina,Marina also included a gorgeous crocheted flower and fat 1/8th's in my parcel Mmm........does this mean now that I have a zippered pouch I don't need to attempt to make one myself???
I also made up a little something for Shez, Sharon, Christine and Melody, handmade Rum Truffles with a Christmas ornament made from a design by Michelle Ridgway, a very talented designer.
I still have more photo's of our lovely bloggy meet so will post again in another day or two with more of what we got up to :)

Santa sack swap update etc.....

These two parcels are heading to Cheryl's home as of yesterday morning.....I'm hoping she likes what I've sent her! I was a bit late sending November's parcels as I was snowed under with uni assignments,I now have one back with a mark of  high distinction, one more waiting to come back marked and one to put in this Wednesday.....but wait there's more! My final two assignments are due my last week of uni which is in two weeks! Bring on the end of November I say.
So thank you Cheryl for being so understanding in my being a bit late in sending you of this months pressies......I have an extra yummy surprise included in your next parcel which will be winging it's way to you for the final post in the first week of December, plenty of time to get to you before Chrissy :)
I'm also in a fat 1/4 swap and my partner for this swap was Arlene, I'd asked for red and white or red for my fat 1/4's and she didn't dissapoint! I haven't seen either of these fabrics and they'll go nicely with the others I've been collecting for my red and white redwork stitchery quilt. Thanks for being my partner for this months swap Arlene.I'll be off for our Mill Rose bloggy meet next Saturday and I'm sure I'll find just the right fabrics to send your way.......with a little extra for my being late again whoops! I couldn't find anything at my local spotlight for the colours Arlene had requested so decided to wait till our bloggy meet to find them.
I've been slowly and steadely stitching my way through this Rosalie Quinlan stitchery,a few minutes here and there does wonders,it's also nice to take some much needed time out from assignments and just stitch!
