I joined in the birthday fat 1/4 swap for the first time this year and my gifts started arriving a few days before my birthday and let me tell you it was REALLY hard not to open them as they arrived but I resisted (except for some squeezing and shaking lol) In my gifts were gorgeous fabrics from my swap partners and they also included extra gifts like yummy chocolate which lasted about two days.I also recieved a gorgeous pin cushion and scissor/fob from Jenny, hexie templates from Natalie, floss and ric rac from Christine and a lovely quilt label from Noela.

I just want to say thank you to all these lovely ladies for making my birthday a very special one.THANK YOU!!!

My design has been published!!

I sent a photo off to Handmade back in November last year (after much pushing from my sister Anne and friends to just take a chance and do it!) asking if they'd be interested in putting it in their magazine and quickly got an email back asking me to send them the cushion and pattern as soon as I could so they could put it in this years mother's day issue.Of course I said yes while jumping up to do the happy dance LOL.
After many months waiting for the mother's day issue of handmade to hit the news stands it's finally arrived in my letterbox (Vol.27 No.11). So may I introduce with much flourish and drum roll dah dah dum dum......my cushion called "Notes to Mum" is now out there.Hope you like it?

I'm so happy I took the chance.I also wanted to thank my sister Anne for all her support, encouragement and proof reading my pattern for me.I'd also like to thank Vicki and Ondrea for all their encouragement as well. Thanks girls I couldn't have done it without all your help, love and support :)

A very special secret swap.......

Vicki (Tozz'z corner) and I decided we'd like to do a secret swap just between us.We both fell in love with these fabric boxes and decided to make each other a box each.It turned out we were both thinking the same thing and decided to surprise each other with not 1 but 2 of these gorgeous boxes lol!We think so alike it's uncanny.
The first pictures are the 2 boxes I made for her and with the offcut strips I made her a tuffet.I also included a bumble bee pen I found when shopping, as soon as I saw it I thought of Vicki hehehehe.
The next picture are the beautiful fabric boxes Vicki made for me,aren't I a lucky girl!! I have yet to make one of the fabric bows but I think It will be on my to-do list for doing very soon as I can see more of these baskets being made up in the near future.
I'll also do my next post on the baskets I made up a couple of weeks ago but haven't posted about yet.
Thanks Vicki for being my secret swap partner I soooo enjoyed making them for you and I loved the ones you made for me.

UFO's are flying away....

I've been working on a couple of quilts over the last couple of weeks and finally put the last border on the second one!
The blue and yellow angel quilt I put all together last week and Friday I put on its final borders.I started this quilt quite a few years ago and had all the applique blocks etc all done and ready to put together but that's as far as I got with it.It feels good to finally have them ready to send off to the quilter.
The green and raspberry quilt has been made up for a few years as well, just awaiting the final floral border which I achieved today.I'm loving how it's turned out but boy is it enormous!! it hangs down quite a bit on our bed as you can see from the photo's.I had some extra rectangles cut out and sashing strips so today I also did two cushion tops to go with the quilt and because I still had some rectangles left I've made up a runner top as well today.I'll leave it for another day to finish those three things off ,maybe next friday? Boy I'm bushed! I think tonight I'll be doing some hand sewing in front of the tv tonight.
This year is my year for finishing off UFO's so tick, tick, two more off the list :)

Another finish for 2010.....

I had this couch companion cut out, traced and ready to work on since early last year.,sitting in a zip lock bag. Finally I started on the embroidery section and this Friday I finished that and put it together today.I've made some changes to the pattern to make it easier for me next time I make it as the pattern had me stuffing the pin cushion before attatching it to the background fabric....way too hard to manouver when sewing it together on the machine so I unstuffed it reattached it again and then put the binding on before I stuffed the pincushion again.
I'll definately be making this again as it was fun despite the fustration with the pincushion,

I couldn't resist and now I'm addicted!

Here are the promised photo's of the extra tea bag wallets I made up all in diferent colours.I loved how quick they were to make up.More pressies for my Christmas box!
I also couldn't resist making up these fabric boxes that I saw on Jenny's blog and made one up really quickly.I have five more cut out and ready to sew together.I think a few of these will also be going into the Christmas box to be filled up with fabric and notions for the sewers and potions and lotions for the others.

I've been busy,oh so busy.....

The last couple of weeks have been busy ones for me.I've completed the hexie for my partner Lucky and finished a couple of blocks for the red and white quilt I've been working on made up more tea bag wallets (photo of these next post) as well as finishing of one of my PIF gifts that is going to be posted off tomorrow (photo of the PIF gift when I know the recipient has received it,don't want to spoil the surprise).
So the photo's are off Lucky's hexie I made for her (the cat one),thanks for being my partner Lucky and the gorgeous heart one is the one Lucky made for me.Aren't I a lucky girl.

I think I'll have to do another photo post with all the hexies together to show you all the lovlies I've been receiving from my partners, maybe tomorrow with the tea bag wallet photo.

More gift making

I found this great tutorial on making tea bag wallets and just had to try it out and voila I now have two to add to my gift box..I decided to jazz mine up a bit by adding a suffolk puff to the closure instead of just using a button.
I'm thinking I'll be making a few more of these for gifts as they are so quick and easy to make up.

Another couple of finishes.......

This weekend I've been working on a couple of bags. The purple bow bag "Moonshine Design" I have had nearly finished for five years!! all it needed was the bow,and pocket made up and then to actually put the bag all together which I did today.
The raspberry and aqua bag I made up in under an hour it was so quick I was left wondering why it took me over a year to even cut out the material I had put aside for it with the pattern???
I have a couple of more pairs of handles so I think I'll be making up more bags but in diferent colourways. The raspberry and aqua bag is already being used to store my bag patters in,so much nicer than a box

Bunny Hill BOM: 12 Months of baskets

This weekend I've been working on putting this BOM together.I'm pretty pleased with myself because I've only used my stash to make up all the blocks and the borders.I haven't bought one piece of fabric for this BOM I just used what I had.
I love how it's turned out and how all the colours I've chosen blend so well together.
What do you think??
