Final January Finishes for OPAM....

Last night I finished my final Christmas table runner that I'd started making a couple of years ago Wooo Hooo so glad to have this one finally done,it's now packed away with my Chrissy stuff where I'll finally be able to use it this year!!!
I've also been working on some knitted dish cloths over the last week and a half in-between all the sewing I've been working on.I started making crocheted dishcloths last year but found them to hard to wring out with my weak wrists/hands so decided to try knitting them and I must say I love how they've turned out, super soft and so easy to use.I just bought more balls to make up lots more so expect some more pictures of my lovely dish cloths in the coming weeks :)

Three more finished......Finally!!

I finally put the back on my christmas table runner I started nearly three years ago, ooops should have ironed it first.I made five variations of this runner, three were for Christmas gifts to family and friends and you guessed it the other two were for me.I finished the other three on time as gifts but mine as usual got put on the back burner till now.I still have one more runner to finish with prairie points and then I can say I'll be ready for Christmas reeaallllyyy early this year LOL.

The two tea towels will be going itno my Christmas box as little gifties for unexpected pressies being needed quickly when I run out of time but still want to give a hand-made gift.I'm sooo loving finishing off things and crossing them of my to-do list

If you look top left of my blog you'll see a new button for the 2011 OPAM challange which I've joined.I'm hoping this will keep me motivated to at least finish one thing a month which will be harder for me starting Febuay as I'll be commencing part-time study as well as working....we'll see how it all pans out at the end of the year :)

It's only taken me two years to put together.....

I started working on these four blocks a couple of years ago using some of my scraps from my stash. It's taken me all this time to find them again in my humungus UFO pile and then ages again to decide what I wanted to make them into!?? I finally decided to join them together to make a wall hanging, although they nearly turned into four cushions for my couch lol.The colours all go so well together,I love how it's turned out :)

I'm on a roll.....

I decided to make another table runner with the scraps I had left over from my previous blue runner. The only thing I changed was appliqueing flowers on each end and a diferent backing fabric and I still have enough left overs to make a couple of cushions to go with it.I'm loving how they both turned out.
This is going to be another Chrissy gift so two down with many more to go :)

A sewing kit for the flood releif....

These pictures are of the beautiful sewing kit my sister Anne made for the flood relief that Jenny of http://www.elefantz.com/ is organising.

If you'd like to join in and make one or two for this great cause pop over to Jenny's blog to get all the info about where to acess the free patterns to use and where to send your finished kits to.
Anne used a pattern from my stash to create the one in the picture above ( by Leanne Beasley) but like me she winged it to make the bag to put it in,isn't she clever :)

2 more finishes for 2011....

I've been watching all the mug rugs appearing around blogland and decided to try my hand at making one or two of them.I'm quite pleased with how they turned out .I wasn't too sure of the actual sizing of the rugs so I just winged it.

A couple of WIP....

These are a couple of things I've been working on.The red and white runner is a BOM I did and then couldn't figure out what to make it up into.Over my holiday break I decided to border it with red sashing and make it into a runner.I just need some backing/binding material and I can finish it of.I love how it's turned out and I think Vicki will be too :)

The wall hanging I've been working on one block a month and have been putting it together as each row has been finished so now another one to find border, backing and binding material for and I can finish this one off to.Mmmmm I suppose I'll have to go shopping for this material, what a hardship lol :)

Just for me......what BLISS!!

This year I've decided to try and make myself a few things and this bag is one of the things I've been wanting to make for ages so yesterday I dived into my Bliss stash and created it.I wanted it to be one of a kind and I think I did that using as many diferent pieces of my bliss fabric :)

What do you think?? I have some pretty dark pink buttons I bought for the bag to attatch to the bottom of the handles but I'm not sure if that will make it too much....your opinion would be appreciated.

Let's just say this bag has already been out shopping with me today and it's fantastic to use with four outside pockets and the two I added inside the bag....I think I have a pocket fetish lol.

Maree's swap....a belated update

I've been very remiss in not posting photo's of what I received in this swap but I have a very good reason......I've been turning my house upside down trying to find the 6th gift that Laurie sent me!! I know she sent me six....I counted six when I opened them......but when it came time to take the photo there were only five??? Anyway I decided to post a photo of the five I did find and thank Laurie for her gifts.

Did you notice the handbag book....she must know about my hidden stash of bags shhh.... don't let my hubby hear! Also that box of chocolate.....empty, didn't even last the day! The beautiful needle book almost went home with my sister as she fell in love with it as well as the intricate pincushion with all it's lovely stitches. The thread catcher is now sitting beside my sewing machine and doing a fanntastic job.
I love all my gifts Laurie and I thank you for making my Christmas that much more special by the thoughfullness that went into your gift selections.I hope you and your family also had a great Christmas and I wish you a happy, healthy and crafty New Year :)
